What is a parking fee?

A parking fee at charging stations refers to the costs that users must pay for parking their electric vehicle at a charging station. This fee, activated by the operator, is charged in addition to the actual charging costs. It begins after a specified period once the vehicle is connected and helps regulate the availability of charging stations.

How can I activate the parking fee?

Note: The parking fee is currently only available for the "Drivers & Vehicles" user groups (registered drivers) and eRoaming (see below). It will be available for Ad Hoc charging at a later date.

To activate the parking fee, click on the pencil icon in the tariff tile of a "Drivers & Vehicles" user group (in the "User Groups" menu). There, you can set a per-minute fee (e.g., €0.20 per minute) and choose when the fee should start (in 30-minute increments after the vehicle is connected, e.g., 1.5 hours). You can also set a limit for parking fees. Once the limit is reached, no further parking fees will be charged for that session.

Where can I view the parking fee for a charging session?

In the "Monitoring" menu, under the "Charging History" submenu, your recorded charging sessions are displayed. When you click on a specific session, various details, including parking fees, will appear in the sidebar (see image).

How do I activate the parking fee for eRoaming?

Since July 1, 2024, a parking fee of €0.10 per minute is automatically active, provided you have activated the eRoaming user group in your reev Dashboard. This fee applies under the following conditions:

  • AC charging stations: The fee is charged after 240 minutes of charging time.
  • DC charging stations: The fee is charged after 120 minutes of charging time.
  • The maximum fee is €12

Use Cases

Example 1: A vehicle is connected to an AC charging station and remains for more than 4 hours. After the 4th hour, additional parking fees apply for the user (€0.10 per minute, with a maximum of €12).

Example 2: A vehicle is connected to a DC charging station and remains for more than 2 hours. After the 2nd hour, additional parking fees apply for the user (€0.10 per minute, with a maximum of €12).

This parking fee is independent of what the driver pays. Many eMobility service providers have been charging fees to their drivers for years. The parking fee is now (at least partially) passed on to you as the charging station operator.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Will the parking fee be available for other user groups?
In the future, a parking fee may be considered for Ad Hoc charging. If a parking fee for Ad Hoc charging is relevant to you, please click here.

How are drivers informed about the additional parking fee?

Drivers will be informed via email and app, just like with other tariffs.

Can I adjust the price of the parking fees in eRoaming?

As with eRoaming fees, the parking fees are determined by the EMPs (E-Mobility Providers). Therefore, they cannot be adjusted.

Who pays the parking fee, how is it charged, and how is it paid out to the CPO?

The EMPs handle the parking fees and pay them directly to the CPO (Charging Point Operator).
